As Thanksgiving gets closer, college campuses throughout the nation are full with excitement as students prepare to head home for the holidays. After months of late-night study sessions, exams, and managing the challenges of campus life, many students are looking forward to a well-deserved holiday. For many people, Thanksgiving provides an opportunity to reconnect with family, enjoy their favorite home-cooked meals, and relax before the busy final weeks of the semester.
“I can’t wait to get home and relax,” said Jada Warren, a sophomore at Savannah State University. “The semester has been so busy, and I’m really looking forward to spending time with my family and enjoying a nice break before finals.”
The energy on campuses has changed considerably as students begin to pack and prepare for their trips. Some people are even coming home earlier than usual to help prepare Thanksgiving dinners or spend more time with family members they haven't seen in a while.
“I’ve been counting down the days,” said Richard Robbins III, a graduating Senior . “My last Thanksgiving as a student, I’m just really excited to be with everyone again. Plus, I miss my mom’s sweet potato pie.”
For students who travel long distances, Thanksgiving break serves as an emotional reunion with loved ones after months apart. Many others are excited to return to their own beds and hear the familiar sounds of family gatherings. Some students intend to spend time reconnecting with their high school classmates.
